One new thing students may be able to expect in the near future is textbook rentals at less than half the cost of new books.

Sophomore Natalie O'Brien is one of those students.

The question isn't whether Wayne State's tuition rate will rise for the 2008-09 school year, but by how much?
According to a presentation given to the WSU Board of Governors on June 18 by Robert Kohrman, associate vice president of university budget, it is projected that tuition increases will range from 4.6 to 8 percent over last year.

Nearly three months before the deadline, the Michigan Legislature determined a large portion of the state budget for the next fiscal year Friday.
Lawmakers discussed and voted on legislation until 2:00 a.m. Saturday, but the bill providing a 1-percent across-the-board increase for the state's public universities passed both houses relatively quickly in the middle of the day.
